Center of the Universe might seem like a strange title for a book. Especially considering the inspiration for the title was a town of 3,500 people. But faith looks at things a bit differently than reason, as faith lives from the unseen. I began to pastor in the community of Weaverville, California, in 1978. Like most young men, I was filled with vision and hope for what God could
do, even in a small community. My challenge to the people was rather simple —let’s change the world. I couldn’t stand the idea of moving to a city “where the elephants go to die.” The mentality in such places doesn’t lend itself to shaping the course of world history.
